WHAT IS FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY?
Forensic psychology bridges the fields of psychology and criminal justice. Forensic psychologists study human behavior by observing, questioning, and interpreting how people relate to others and how these individuals react to the situations in which they find themselves. Through careful research and observation, forensic psychologists looking for patterns or behaviors that help them predict how and why an individual reacts the way in which he or she does.
In addition to testing and evaluations, forensic psychologists also provide consultation for civil, criminal, or military litigation; jury consultation; and expert witness testimony.
WHAT IS AN EDUCATIONAL EVALUATION?
The goal of a psychological educational evaluation is to identify areas of strength and weakness cognitively and academically so that these areas can be targeted through intervention or additional support. Using all of the information gained over the course of the evaluation – from interviews, parent, teacher and child rating scales, one-on-one testing results, and observations of the child – Dr. Lisa seeks to provide the child, her family and (with consent from the family) her teachers, with a clear picture of the child's abilities and needs in the classroom, at home and with peers. Findings will be compiled into a report, with all findings, diagnoses and recommendations discussed with the family at the end of the evaluation process.
Dr. Lisa provides educational evaluations to assess the need for 504 plans (accommodations for children with disabilities), Individual Education Plans (IEP), and services needed in the classroom, and on standardized testing (ACT, SAT, MCAT, etc.).
